Technical Description
An unusual early 19th century Irish Bowl stand. Large Irish bowls often came in two parts, the bowl itself and lower stand. The stand has a hollow cut slot which the 'peg' at the base of the bowl would slot into. It's a decorative piece rather than practical unless you happen to have a bowl requiring a stand. It has its original collectors label on the base.
Historical Relevance
Hand-blown around the time Austins of Derry was established in Northern Ireland. At its closure in 2016, it remained the world's oldest independent department store.
