Technical Description
A studio art glass dish by Michael J. Hunter. Handmade blown glass, the form is hot-worked from colourless glass with opaque white threads in a net-like pattern, the rim is edged with a vivid transparent blue. The body is undulating and organically free-flowing, quite reminiscent of a splash of water. The base is signed ‘M Hunter Twists 10’.
This is one of Mike’s more unique and experimental pieces, a very fun and interesting dish that can be used as entirely decorative or functional to hold fruit. Note that a unique feature of this dish is that if you sit the central base on a shelf or stepped surface, the outer edge of the dish will undulate below the surface of the shelf, much like the famous melted clock in the 1931 painting The Persistence of Memory by artist Salvador Dalí.
