Technical Description 

A pair of 19th century cut dram glasses. They have thistle bowls with slice cuts and cross cut diamonds. Ball knops stems above conical feet with polished pontils.

England, c1848. Period of Victoria.

Excellent, age-related wear as shown.

Height: 9.5cm   Rim diameter: 4.7cm   Foot diameter: 4.9cm.

Historical Relevance 

On 1st June 1878, the Tay Railway Bridge opens linking Dundee with Fife and then on the 28th Dec 1879, the bridge, which was designed by Thomas Bouch, collapsed while being crossed by a train with the loss of 75 lives.
