Technical Description 

19th century lens cut gin glass. The deceptive round funnel bowl is decorated with lens cuts. A short plain stem joins the bowl with a conical foot finished with a polished pontil.

Historical Relevance 

Hand-blown around the time an American naval expedition under Charles Wilkes was the first to identify Antarctica as a new continent.
