Technical Description
A cup bowl with slice cuts to the base. Sits on an unusual shoulder knop stem consisting of a blade and angular knop above a plain stem. Conical foot with polished pontils.
Historical Relevance
The heavy lead glass and deep hue is indicative of its origin and period. Hand-blown around the time the name Australia replaced ‘New Holland’ as the country's official name and the release of the 6th edition of the Encyclopædia Britannica.
