Technical Description
A superb box decanter with a period bubble stopper. It has a band of slice and diamond cutting around the neck with a Scottish Thistle, English Rose, Welsh Lily of the Valley and Irish Shamrocks engraved around the body. Flute cutting to the base Polished pontil. The stopper is a period replacement in the correct style.
Historical Relevance
Franco-Prussian War (1870–1871) resulted in the collapse of the Second French Empire and in the formation of both the French Third Republic and the German Empire.
