Technical Description
An 18th century air twist wine glass. A large diamond moulded ogee bowl rests upon an air twist stem. The stem features a shoulder knop and a multi spiral twist. This glass is supported by a conical foot with a rough pontil.
We think it’s a magnificent glass and I can honestly say it’s the first of its form that we've had in the last 16 years. Ogee bowls are common enough however the combination of the moulding with the shoulder knop and tight multi spiral below accentuates the visual impact of the glass. A very fine collectors’ glass which I doubt you will find elsewhere. Lovely balance and great to hold and use.
Historical Relevance
Hand-blown around the time Robert Gordon's College in Aberdeen opened.
