Technical Description
A superb glass honey pot with original matching lid dating to 1877. The pot was made at the Forth Glass Works in Scotland with design number 310358. The reg mark on the base confirms the date.
The pot can be found in Dr Jill Turnbull's book 'From Goblets to Gaslights, The Scottish Glass Industry 1750 to 2006' on page 200 Illustration 14.3.'

Historical Context
The Forth Glass Works was based in Glasgow and was in production for over 50 years, with 3 glass cones adjacent to the Forth and Clyde Canal. It was the only glassworks in Scotland to specialise in pressed glass but also produced cut glass, engraved flint glass and medicine bottles.

This piece comes from the Dr Jill Turnbull collection which was put together as part of Jill's research for her books, including 'From Goblets to Gaslights, The Scottish Glass Industry 1750-2006. Exhibit will be presenting the collection for sale over the coming months.
