Technical Description 

A magnificent mid 19th century engraved glass wine carafe. Shaped as a Gourd, it has rococo engraving down the neck, a detailed floral band around the shoulders and large engraved flowers around the base. Polished pontil.

Historical Context

Millard Fillmore is sworn into office as the 13th President of the United States, following Zachary Taylor's death on July 9, 1850.
