An early 19th century glass tumbler. Tapered form with a large engraved hop on one side of thebowl and barley in saltire on the other.

Excellent, no chips cracks or restoration.

Historical Context
1780 saw the birth of Robert Owen in Wales, the businessman and a social reformer credited with becoming one of the founders of socialism and of the cooperative movement. Best known for his association with New Lanark where he became manager in 1800 at the age of only 20. New Lanark became a model for industrial communities that was to spread across the world in the 19th and 20th centuries.
