Technical Description
A fine 18th-century air twist wine glass dating to c1760.
It has a bell bowl with a solid section at the base containing a band of air beads. Sits on a multi spiral air twist stem with a large shoulder knop. Conical foot.
This is a lead glass, however there are some continental influences here with the high conical foot and the air beads around the base of the bowl. Also the metal is quiet dark in comparison to normal English lead glasses of that period. We have included a picture of an English lead glass of similar form so that you can compare. We suspect the glass is a lead Norwegian glass, and therefore quiet a rare example.
