Technical Description
A superb and very rare example of an English lead Jacobite engraved colour twist wine glass dating to c1760.
It has a bell bowl engraved with a six-petal rose, open bub, closed bud and a large butterfly on the reverse. The stem is spectacular with alternating translucent blue, green and red spirals outside a white gauze. Conical foot with a snapped pontil.
According to Geoffrey B Seddon, The Jacobites and Their Drinking Glasses (1995), the decoration on this glass may be attributed to Engraver F.
