Comments
The Rose, Carnation, and Sunflower all have Jacobite significance, however, it is the Oaktree that is the stand-out feature of the engravings. Classic Oaktree shape, the tree of life, and the tree that Bonny Prince Charlie supposedly climbed to hide from the English troops after the battle of Culloden in 1746. By the early 19th century the Jacobite cause was a forlorn hope, however, that did not stop those that still had sympathy to the cause from having their glass engraved as a reminder of what was lost.
