Technical Description 

A large 19th century glass punch bowl with bands of printie cuts or a square two-tier polished base. Used as a table centre piece holding punch which is transferred to the glass via a ladle or toddy lifer.  

Historical Relevance 

First United States Income Tax, The first United States income tax was imposed in July 1861, at 3% of all incomes over 800 dollars in order to help pay for the war effort in the American Civil War.
