A large and exceptionally rare, limited edition, ‘First Fleet – HMS Sirius’ Moorcroft Jar and Cover.
Number 14 of only 25 ever made, it measures 52cm tall and 30cm in diameter and has been in the same family collection since it was made in 1988. It is in immaculate condition. Been in the same collection for 25 years.
The Jar and lid feature the 10-gun HMS Sirius in graduating sizes around the bowl. Moorcroft’s Sally Tuffin was responsible for the unique bicentennial design commemorating the British colonial fleet of 11 ships, led by the Sirius. It contained over 1000 convicts, marines, seamen and civil officers that were shipped over from Portsmouth to create the penal colony at Botany Bay in 1788.
