Technical Description
An enamelled 19th century glass claret jug. The neck has a trefoil rim and an applied handle with pinched decoration. This leads to a slightly tapered cylindrical body which is acid etched. The body is further decorated with enamelled Scottish thistles. The piece is complete with a polished base, and the original hollow spire stopper.
Historical Relevance
Hand-blown around the time electric street lighting was introduced in London, initially on the Thames Embankment and Waterloo Bridge.
