Technical Description
Engraved 19th century blue glass decanter. The stopper is the original hollow star cut mushroom. Slice cut neck with two slice cut neck rings. The body is engraved with Scottish thistles, English roses and Irish shamrocks. The centenary of the act of union was in 1807 and this may have been the motivation for the engraving. The base has been star cut to finish the piece off. One of the best examples we have seen.
Historical Relevance
Hand-blown around the time Robert Peel established the Metropolitan Police Service in London, the first modern police force.
