This type of glass is usually heavily chipped. This piece is in very good condition with only a couple of grazes and one 5mm chip on the rim as shown.

Technical Description 

An 18th century cut glass water jug. The scallop cut rim has a pulled pouring section and leads to a prism cut neck. The body diamond and fan cut and has an applied handle, featuring slice and notch cuts. The piece rests upon a polished base. 

Historical Relevance 

Hand-blown around the time the Irish Royal Navy captain, Edward Bransfield landed on the mainland of Antarctica.
