Technical Description 

A 19th-century glass pickle jar with its original star cut mushroom stopper. The main body with a band of flute cuts, above a band of large star cuts with a band lower slice cuts, all separated into panels by vertical pillar cuts. Polished pontil to base.

England, c1880. Period of Victoria.

Condition

Excellent, age-related wear as shown. No chips cracks or restoration. Clean and clear.

Historical Context

Hand-blown around the time John Alexander Reina Newlands produced the first periodic table of elements in 1864.
