Technical Description
A superb 19th century military glass carafe for wine or water dating to c1840.
It has a wide poring rim with broad slice cuts down the neck which continue into the main body. It has the castle crest of the Inniskilling Dragoons finely engraved on one side. Star cut base.
The Inniskilling Dragoons were a cavalry regiment within the British Army, first raised in 1689 as Sir Albert Cunningham's Regiment of Dragoons. They fought in a number of notable battles including the Battle of the Boyne in July 1690, the Battle of Waterloo and the Charge Of The Heavy Brigade in the Crimean war.
The carafe was used in the Mess by the officers for water of wine and is superb and very rare piece of Anglo Irish history.

Excellent, age-related wear as shown. No chips, cracks, or restoration, clean and clear.
