Technical Description
An unusual 18th century opaque twist wine glass. The round funnel bowl rests upon a double series opaque twist stem. This is comprised of a multi-ply spiral band outwith a pair of corkscrews. The opaque corkscrews have an inner air edge which is well-defined from top to bottom. In our opinion, this is probably accidental, but may not be, in which case it would be described as a triple mixed twist, which is a very rare form. A conical foot with a rough pontil supports the piece.
Historical Relevance
Hand-blown around the time the royal family first took up residence at Buckingham House in 1762.
