Technical Description

An exceptional 18th century wine glass dating to c1755. It has a conical bowl which is honeycomb moulding to the lower half. Sits in a incised twist stem with a shoulder knop. Conical foot.

A fine example and the first time we have seen this particular form.

England, c1755. Period of George II.

Condition

Excellent, no chips cracks or restoration

Historical Relevance 

Hand-blown around the time Lord Harwicke's Marriage Act 1753 "for the Better Preventing of Clandestine Marriage" came into force in England and Wales on the 25th March 1754.
