Technical Description 

A excellent and very unusual 18th Century Balustroid wine glass dating to c1740. It has a conical bowl with a solid section at the base above three equal sized flattened ball knops. Conical foot.

England, c1740. Period of George II.

Condition

Excellent, age-related wear as shown.

Height: 16.8cm Rim diameter: 7.3cm Foot diameter: 7.3cm.

Historical Relevance 

The first documented north american article about freemasonry is published by Benjamin Franklin in 1730 within the Pennsylvania Gazette.

This glass comes from the Michael Wallis collection which took over 45 years to build and contains over 250 drinking glasses, covering all forms from the 18th century, many exceptionally rare. They will all be presented by Exhibit over the coming weeks and months.
