Technical Description 

A superb example of an 18th Century Baluster Glass dating to c1730. It has a very large bucket bowl above a triple annulated and basal knop stem. Conical folded foot.

Date & Origin 

England, c1750. Period of George II.

Condition

Excellent, age-related wear as shown.

Height: 26.4cm Rim diameter: 11.2cm Foot diameter: 12.7cm.

Historical Relevance 

The first documented north american article about freemasonry is published by Benjamin Franklin in 1730 within the Pennsylvania Gazette.

This glass comes from the Michael Wallis collection which took over 45 years to build and contains over 250 drinking glasses, covering all forms from the 18th century, many exceptionally rare. They will all be presented by Exhibit over the coming weeks and months.
