Technical Description

An 18th-century Jacobite engraved wine glass dating to 1750.

It has a drawn trumpet bowl and stem, the bowl engraved with a Jacobite Rose, open bud, closed bud, oak leaf and the word FIAT (Let It Be). Conical foot.

According to Geoffrey B Seddon, the glass was engraved by engraver A

This glass comes from the Michael Wallis collection which took over 45 years to build and contains over 250 drinking glasses, covering all forms from the 18th century, many exceptionally rare. They will all be presented by Exhibit over the coming weeks and months.
