Technical Description
A rare example of an 18th-century Balustroid wine glass. It has a waisted bell bowl above a large angular shoulder knop above a teared inverted baluster and basal knop. Domed and folded foot with snapped pontil.
The combination of bowl and knopping mark this glass as an outstanding and rare example.

England, c1740. Period of George II.
Condition
Excellent, age-related wear as shown.

Historical Relevance
Hand-blown around the time King George I died on his way to Hanover in1727. His son, George, Prince of Wales, became King George II of Great Britain.
