Technical Description 

An 18th century glass sweetmeat. The lipped cup bowl features a scallop cut rim above an engraved swag with polished detailing and engraved stars. Sits on an eight-sided pedestal stem with diamonds on the shoulders and collars above and below. Domed and folded foot with a snapped pontil.

Historical Relevance 

Hand-blown around the time James Tytler became the first person in Britain to fly by ascending in a hot air balloon in Edinburgh 1784.
