Date & Origin
Excellent, no chips or cracks, clean and clear. We would say that it is as close to pristine as an antique over 100 years old can be.
Height: 12.2cm Diameter: 4.8cm.
A rare Art Nouveau Baccarat perfume bottle in the Eglantier Viliot pattern dating to c1910. Original facet cut stopper, the bottle features a beautifully textured fern leaf background with a violet overlay of roses and leaves. Polished pontil.
The Eglantier pattern is referenced in the Baccarat 1903-1904 & 1916 catalogues and was very much top of their range.
This type of perfume bottle was called a flacon stilligoutte, or dropper bottle, for dispensing drops of perfume onto cotton balls or handkerchiefs.
From 1860 Baccarat marked their pieces with a circular paper label bearing their logo which as you can imagine get washed and rubbed away over the years. It wasn't until 1936 that Baccarat replaced the traditional paper labels for their permanent acid-etched logo
