Technical Description 

A large mid 19th century Standing Bowl or Sweet Meat with a Van Dyke cut rim above bands of printie and oval cuts around the bowl. A large slice cut baluster knop with an air tear sits upon a start cut foot.

Historical Relevance 

First United States Income Tax, The first United States income tax was imposed in July 1861, at 3% of all incomes over 800 dollars in order to help pay for the war effort in the American Civil War
