Technical Description

A stoneware abstract pottery vase by Harry Johnston made in 1964.

Born in Brazil, Harry moved to the UK as a child and was educated in Heywood before studying at Bury Art School.

In 1950 he opened Birtle Pottery at the site of a former church just off Elbut Lane where his workshop produced ceramics, one off statues and vases as well as cups and other goods.

He stoped in 1990 due to failing eyesight and died in 2010.

This is a wonderful abstract example of his work in superb condition.
