Technical Description
An exceptional and very rare 18th century sweetmeat or master salt glass in blue. It has a flared conical ribbed bowl with an over folded rim. Sits on an inverted baluster stem above a conical foot with snapped pontil.
Similar glass from this era in blue with folded rims can be found in the V&A London, however, this particular Venetian influenced form is exceptionally rare.
Hand-blown around the time the British captured Pondichéry, India from the French on the 16th of January 1761.
