Technical Description

An over-sized Georgian style firing glass. A trumpet bowl stands above a double series opaque twist stem consisting of two pairs of spiral tapes outside a gauze. The piece is supported by a thick conical firing foot with a snapped pontil.

We often see these oversized glasses advertised as period (18th century), however, the Edwardians were very keen on everything Georgian and produced many oversized glasses in the Georgian style, in this case, a Georgian firing glass. Today, it can be used very effectively as a goblet and is well over 100 years old.

Historical Relevance

Hand-blown around the time construction of Truro Cathedral in Cornwall was completed.
