Technical Description
A 19th century Scottish glass gill measure. A bell form with notches in the rim, this means the measure is to be filled to the brim. The neck and body are decorated with slice cuts. The pontil is polished. This design was registered by James Couper & Sons of glasgow in 1868.
Historical Relevance
Hand-blown around the time the Western General Hospital was established in Edinburgh in 1868.
