To the foot of one candlestick there is a stable stress crack around the pontil. On the same stick there is a small slither chip as shown, this is not uncommon for the style. Stunning examples that display beautifully.

Technical Description
Pair of 18th century facet cut candle sticks. A removable cut sconce sits within the top of the multi-knopped facet cut stem. The piece rests upon a domed and facet cut foot with a van dyke rim and rough pontil. A fine pair which would enhance any special occasion table.
Historical Relevance
Hand-blown in England around the time gaslight was first used in 1807 in Pall Mall, London. Also around the time Thomas Jefferson became the first U.S Secretary of State under President Washington.
