Decanter Excellent, age-related wear as shown, no chips or cracks. The stopper has chips to the base of the peg as shown. These cannot be seen when the stopper is in place.

Technical Description
An amber mid 19th century slice cut and engraved glass decanter. Broad fluted cylinder with alternative flutes stained amber and engraved with Ivy. Star cut base.
The workmanship is top quality and an example of this decanter and engravings can be seen on page 353 of The Decanter, An Illustrated History of Glass from 1650 by Andy McConnell.
Historical Relevance
Hand-blown around the time Queen Victoria chose Ottawa as the capital of Canada on the 31st of December 1857.
