Technical Description

A round-funnel bowl engraved with cross-hatched swags and pendants above a floral sprig and pastoral scene with deer and a stag. A double series opaque twist stem featuring a pair of spiral cables outside a pair of three-ply spiral bands. The piece is supported by a conical foot with a rough pontil.

Historical Relevance

Hand-blown around the time Scottish chemist, Joseph Black, described his discovery of carbon dioxide and magnesium in a paper to the Medical Society of Edinburgh.
