Technical Description
The bell bowl has a very detailed engraved Crown with E viii R and May 12th Coronation 1937 below. A hollow ball knop includes a silver 1937 token. Had this been a three-pence the glass would be worth upwards of £40,000 due to the rarity of the coin. This towering glass is supported by a conical foot with a rough pontil.
Historical Relevance
Hand-blown around to commemorate the coronation of Edward VIII. Preparations and souvenirs were made throughout 1936 until the abdication of Edward in December of that year. The date of his coronation was instead used as the date of his successors George VI coronation.
