Technical Description
An amethyst glass apothecaries bottle. Cylindrical in form with an impressed cartouche containing the label 'LIQ: BISM: CONC:'. A royal warrant is present on the bottom of the piece which retains the original stopper.
Historical Relevance
The abbreviations on the bottle tell us that this piece once contained Liquid Bismuth Concentrate. This solution was used to treat temporary discomforts of the stomach and gastrointestinal tract, such as, indigestion, heartburn and nausea. Bismuth is still used today in Pepto-Bismol.
