Technical Description
A 19th century cut glass decanter, possibly Richardsons. The facet cut neck leads to a globular body decorated with cross cut diamonds. A circular foot with a star cut base supports the piece. The original matching stopper remains.
Historical Relevance
Hand-blown around the time Birmingham was granted the status of city, despite not having a cathedral at the time; which was once a requirement for the title.
