Technical Description
A large 18th century opaque twist wine glass. The bell bowl rests upon a double series opaque twist stem. This is comprised of a pair of spiral threads outside a cable, the cable having a single thread of air spiralling around. Although this is a very nice feature, we would say that the introduction of the air thread was accidental and thus shouldn't be classified as a mixed twist. A superb tall glass with a bowl almost twice the size of the standard 18th-century norm. A conical foot with a rough pontil supports the piece.
Historical Relevance
Hand-blown around the time the royal family first took up residence at Buckingham House in 1762.
