Technical Description
An engraved 18th century opaque twist ale glass. The elongated ogee bowl is engraved with a rare variant of hops and barley, a single hop and leaf with a pair of barley ears side by side. The bowl rests upon an opaque twist stem comprised of a pair of multi-spiral bands outwith a lace twist. The piece is supported by a conical foot with a rough pontil.
Historical Relevance
Hand-made around the time the British Museum opened at Montagu House, Bloomsbury in London.
