Historical Context

The 2nd half of the 19th century was very much a revival period for glass artists of Murano. They retrieved the secrets behind the making of certain types of glass which had fallen into disuse because of the very complexity of the procedures involved. Filigree production was also rediscovered by the Domenico Bussolin, followed by Lorenzo Graziati and Pietro Bigaglia.
