Technical Description
A large 19th century French cider or wine carafe. The piece is very simple, made for purpose. A tapering neck features an applied neck ring. This leads to a large body with a plain pontil.
Historical Relevance
Hand-blown around the time the Venus of Brassempouy was discovered in a cave at Brassempouy, France in 1892. The piece is thought to be around 25,000 years old and is one of the earliest known realistic representations of a human face.
