Technical Description
A Georgian glass rummer dating to c1810. It has a wide round funnel bowl engraved with a band of stars around the rim. Thin capstan stem above conical foot.

Historical Context
In Jan 1800, Robert Owen becomes manager of the New Lanark spinning mills which is now a World Heritage Site. Founded in 1785 with a focus on philanthropy, education and the welfare of the mill workers, New Lanark became a model for industrial communities that was to spread across the world in the 19th and 20th centuries.
