Historical Context
In 1830, the suspension bridge at Montrose, Scotland, collapsed due to weight and movement of a crowd of boat race followers. The twin-hulled iron paddle steamer "Lord Dundas" was launched...built for service on the Forth and Clyde Canal which is still used by narrow boats almost 200 years later.
