Technical Description
An exceptional Georgian firing glass dating to c1760.
It has an ogee bowl with rib moulding to the lower half. Sits on a double series opaque twist stem consisting of a pair of spiral tapes outside a lace twist. Sits on a very rare thick under sewn firing foot.
Oversewn and undersewn feet are rare enough, however you would normally find them on dram glasses as the foot wouldnt be thick enough to be considered a firing glass. However, in this case, the foot is exceptionally thick and most certainly classified as a firing foot. Not an example we have seen before.
Date & Origin
England, c1790
Condition
No chips or cracks, however three of the points on the feet have had a polish to remove old chips. Overall, considering the rarity of the foot, its pretty minor and they are smooth to the touch.
