Technical Description 

A magnificent example of a Victorian engraved glass Amphora claret jug and matching goblet dating to c1870.

 

It has an applied handle with a pulled rim above beautifully engraved garlands and swags of roses and thistles with geometrics on the shoulders. Star cut circular foot.


The large goblet has a matching engraved design above a plain stem and star cut foot.

 

Workmanship of the highest standard you can see examples of these types of engraved clarets on page 375 of The Decanter An Illustrated History Of Glass from 1650 by Andy McConnell.

Part of a large exclusive private collection of 19th and 20th century glass, brought together over many years, that Exhibit will be presenting over the coming months.
