Technical Description

A wonderful early 18th Century baluster wine glass goblet dating to c1720.

It has a large round funnel bowl with a solid section at the base containing an air tear. Should knop above an inverted baluster and basal knop all containing along air tear. Conical thin folded foot.

Condition

Excellent. No chips cracks, or restoration.

Historical Context

As Sophia, Electress of Hanover, had died two months before Queen Anne's death in August 1714, Sophia's eldest son George, Elector of Hanover, inherited the throne under the Act of Settlement of 1701.
