Technical Description
A truly outstanding cut glass cruet set from the late 19th century.
The set depicts the goddess Melusine, a woman with the body of a fish. The tails are depicted along the sides of the set with the frosted glass figure heads at each end. Each piece of the cruet set has been cut and polished to fit exactly, the salt and pepper having their original screw tops, the oil bottles having the original stoppers and the mustard pot having its original glass top and glass spoon.
The entire set is immaculate and pristine and has never been used...we never never seen another example.
There are many glass cruet sets in the shape of a boat on line, however you will not find another set such as this which is probably bespoke and made to order.
We suspect its spent its entire life in a cabinet.
