Technical Description 

An ancient glass kohl bottle. The bowl is slightly tapered with applied trailing, an applied handle and a folded rim. The conical foot has a rough pontil. The green glass has been naturally iridised from years covered in earth.

Historical Relevance 

Kohl was a cosmetic used in ancient times similar to eyeliner today. The mixture is said to be so sterile it can be used on infants, believed to strengthen the child's eyes or to protect them from the ‘curse of the evil eye’.
